See there are some individuals I like. But humans, as a species, hmmm, not so much (but I am a commuter, through two cities, and am willing to be accused of bias :) )
Oh and a hill! Wonderful! I've not been to Rome, but I've seen Roman Holiday and heard, more recent, horror stories.

The last mass extinction at the KT event wipe out a staggering 96% of species on this planet. In the last 200 years mankind has contributed to the destruction of about 98.8% of the species. Thus from a paleontological point of view mankind has caused a mass extinction! In fact the worst recorded in Geological history.
I certainly think it's something to consider. I've certainly had thoughts that bringing children into the world as it stands is something to consider very carefully, beyond the mere practicalities.
