Well I'm doing my bit. No kids here!

[identity profile] kimkali.livejournal.com 2006-02-09 10:55 am (UTC)(link)
Me neither!

Actually, I kinda like humans... :}

But we're only at replacement level and it's highly unlikely we'll go above that now :) (For the family value of "we").

[identity profile] kimkali.livejournal.com 2006-02-09 10:54 am (UTC)(link)
See there are some individuals I like. But humans, as a species, hmmm, not so much (but I am a commuter, through two cities, and am willing to be accused of bias :) )

[identity profile] ifimust.livejournal.com 2006-02-09 10:58 am (UTC)(link)
Heh.

I used to do the Roman Commute four times a day.

But still, overall, I like people.

Roman... oh dear, with THE roundabout?

My confidence in people has been somewhat shaken.

I found the site interesting for the Gaia references / links :)

Grin - the university is at the top of the hill, above Piazza Venezia....

Twas fun. :)

Confidence .... can be restored, or shored up?
~~offers tea and bikkits~~

Oh and a hill! Wonderful! I've not been to Rome, but I've seen Roman Holiday and heard, more recent, horror stories.

Sounds like a great superfun time!

Ack... hmm... I'm stepping back from restoration or shoring up possibilities. I'm just not willing to give anyone the opportunity to lather-rinse-repeat. Not yet.
Tea and bikkits however... ~grin~

[identity profile] ifimust.livejournal.com 2006-02-09 11:28 am (UTC)(link)
Rome is ... amazing. It's also, to a great extent, "home" so I'm biased. :)

And surely it's not necessary to take a shower with someone to trust them? ;)

[identity profile] kimkali.livejournal.com 2006-02-09 11:44 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, home...
I do want to visit Italy. Rome and then the little north-west corner where Chianti comes from ~grin~

Not necessary, no, but it is a method I am sometimes willing to try ~bigger grin~

[identity profile] ifimust.livejournal.com 2006-02-09 11:48 am (UTC)(link)
little north-west corner where Chianti comes from

Tuscany. Florence. The hills.... the vines...

Meep

I have to go to Naples sometime this spring, once I have a passport... :)

As for showers...
~~hands you fluffy towel~~

I like fluffy towels!

And vines... and wines...

ELE!

[identity profile] lexx-uk.livejournal.com 2006-02-09 10:35 am (UTC)(link)
The last mass extinction at the KT event wipe out a staggering 96% of species on this planet.
In the last 200 years mankind has contributed to the destruction of about 98.8% of the species. Thus from a paleontological point of view mankind has caused a mass extinction! In fact the worst recorded in Geological history.

It is quite astounding.

There are individuals I like and love, but as a species I often find us to be vile.

Agreed, but life will find a way to survive :0)

I certainly think it's something to consider. I've certainly had thoughts that bringing children into the world as it stands is something to consider very carefully, beyond the mere practicalities.

It is interesting. I like some of the points they make. I'm not about to send them my life savings, but I thought it was interesting.
